About
Why Digital Media Monkey
I’m a Yorkshireman raised in Oxfordshire and my passions are football, beer, photography and digital marketing.
I write about beer on my beer reviews blog, Beer, Ale, Whatever…, and I write about marketing, advertising, digital and web stuff here. I write because I see things that I want to say and want to know other peoples opinions on and I hope that by doing so I can find out new things and get better at what I do.
I tend to pick up on things I’ve seen, online ads, tv spots or billboards as I drive home. Those that inspire or incense me often end up in a little notebook or somewhere in the darkest innards of my brain, and will one day hopefully make it onto these pages!
About me, Fletch the Monkey
By day I’m a digital marketer which means that the internet takes up a disproportionate part of my life and I work for a digital agency in Leeds, UK. By night I’m just me, my main passions being football and beer. As well as continuing to edit Real Ale Reviews I also wax lyrical about digital marketing and, along with footy author Joe Mewis, I report on Leeds United matches for Leeds Guide magazine.
Outside of work and blogging I put the world behind me by playing five a side football or taking a jog around Morley, West Yorkshire, where I live. I try to read most of the time though it’s holiday when I really get going. I’m intrigued by engineering and science so my bookshelf is a wannabe library of charity-shopped books on life, earth and history.
I’m a firm believer that no-one does a documentary like the British but that fictional TV should be left to the American’s (The Wire, The West Wing, The X Files, The Sopranos and The Shield are testament to that!). I like to cook, but only when I can take as long as I need and make as much mess as possible. I’m probably happiest making tea for my girlfriend Sarah with a beer in one hand and big pot of simmering food in the slow cooker. Ideally after watching 3 points safely secured at Elland Road (or even the Shay Stadium!)
